Barisan Nasional has named Rohaizat Osman as its candidate to contest in the Permatang Pasir by-election, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced today.
Rohaizat, a lawyer, is Permatang Pauh Umno secretary.
The Permatang Pasir state seat in Penang fell vacant after the death of its assemblyman, PAS' Mohd Hamdan Abdul Rahman on July 31. This will be the eighth by-election since last year's general election.
The Election Commission has fixed Aug 17 as the nomination day, and Aug 25 as the polling day, with a campaigning period of eight days......
